Effects of Some Plant Growth Regulators on Quality of Potted Sunflower

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of different plant growth regulators on ornamental sunflower plant. The seedlings belonging Helianthus annuus L. cv. Sunsantion F1 were planted in plastic pots (2 L) containing peat:perlite (1:1, v/v) medium at four true leaf stage. Spray treatments aminoethoxyvinil glycine (AVG; 250 and 500 ppm), promalin (5 10 thidiazuron (TDZ; 5-10 µM), ethephon (100 ppm) applied 20 days after transfering pots, repeated first application. Flower life (days), flower diameter (cm), stem (cm) height determined. According statistical analysis, AVG ppm significantly increased from 9.17 d control plants 11.08 whereas there no significant height. Both concentrations Promalin TDZ significantly. However, (control plants) 10.36 µM 10.33 5 TDZ. Ethephon application prevented bud opening caused leaves be yellowing. These results may suggest pre-treatments increase quality shelf-life potted
